There is a lot of history centered around the Rose Smoke lens. It was developed early in World War 2 for bomber pilots who needed a lens to increase the contrast so they could see enemy aircraft coming at them easier, and a lens that would filter enough blue light to penetrate haze and smoke better so it would be easier to spot ground targets. The rose smoke filled the bill.  In fact, when we went in business in 1967 it was the first lens we offered.  It was the leading contrast producing lens until the Kontraster came along, the rose smoke still holds its’ own in spite of the fact that it does alter colors slightly on the rose colored side. This lens is made of Z80.3 polycarbonate plastic, rose colored, with a double-gradient mirror on the front and an anti-reflection coating on the back. The VLT is 10% at the top and bottom and 16% at the center. This lens is still used a lot for snow skiing, flying, driving, hunting, golf, etc. Stops 100% UV. Frame is made of Propinate plastic, black color. A very unique sunglass. Width of frame is 148mm with 145mm skull temples, fits very large faces best. Comes with a protective very nice hard clam-shell carrying case.
