These watches are rugged and keep excellent time.If you need to see your watch dial at night, this is the best way to do it. The time markers are little Traser capsules that glow brightly (through a chemical reaction) and don’t need batteries or have to be charged up like most “luminous” dials, these are self-powered and will glow for 25 years or more. Used by the Military, CIA, Police, etc., for night work. I’ve been wearing these watches for over 20 years, I’m on my third one. My first was the 3001 with the black face. I wore it for 11 years, then a customer from Australia asked if I ever ran across used ones for a good price, I said I didn’t but I might sell him mine for the right price, so I sold it to him for half of what I paid for it and bought me a new 3005 with a yellow face. I wore hat one for 7 years and had an accident that broke one ear off so that I couldn’t but a band on it anymore. So I put a velcro attachment on the back and put it on my motorcycle, it has been there for over 5 years now, going on 12 years of service. I am very "hard" on watches, before I found these I used to go through 2 or 3 watches a year. I currently have a dress model similar to the 1827 which is about 5 years old, I'm expecting about 5+ more years of use.

Setting aside the Navy SEAL hype, this is a durable, highly-visible watch. I originally bought one because I didn't want to have to keep "heating" the then-standard radium dial watches and found backlit watches to be hard to read. The Luminox watch is easy to read both day and night.
One recommendation: Replace the standard wristband with a 22mm heavy duty nylon wristband with double metal keepers. Not only does it look better, but it is more comfortable and more functional, as well.
